Shirdi Sai Baba's Temple | Studio 2111

The votive temple at Shirdi Sai Baba was born at the request of a group of Italian devotees referring to the Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda' Ashram in Germany.
The need was to create a small place of worship, which would guard the statue of the mystic and allow at the same time to carry out the worship rituals typical of Hindu spirituality.

The dome is characterized by the strong and suggestive intimacy which is underlined by a "starry sky" puncture at the top from which natural light gently penetrates.

The entrance, however, is closed by a fully glazed door. This allows to honor the statue of the mystic even just by passing in front of it, still being able to take a look inside, but thanks to the strong overhang on the outside, the internal lighting that accompanies the moment of recollection is mitigated.

The temple, entirely made of solid bricks, was entirely self-built by the hand of all the devotees who offered this gesture as a sign of gratitude to the mystic. The artifact was therefore entirely made by unskilled labor, with the coordination of the designers. Finally, the decorations are the result of the creativity of the devotees, who enriched the work with mosaics in bright colors.
