Riviera Apartment | Nhabe Scholae

The project of RP Apartment is located in the south of Sai Gon with the main orientation toward the north east, open to the riverside. The particularly cloudy sky in this metropolis and the light coming from the north create a unique atmosphere. Here the designing work revolves around the desire to capture and converse with this type of diluted and indirect light via the use of darker tones and materials that correlate with different degrees of reflection: silver metal, black brick, glossy wood coating, shiny paint on metal, glossy mosaic tile, marble, etc. As light informs the atmosphere, the ambiguous space of memory is evoked by the surface properties of the materials. The warm colors of the shelves and wooden materials are considered in relation to their compatibility with the homeowner's available furniture. The center of the space and the routines in the apartment is the kitchen area, which stays open to two directions of light. Air is circulated around a long table made of natural wood, forming a generous, warm, welcoming space.
