In Switzerland’s unspoilt Val Calanca – one of the southern, Italian-speaking valleys in the Grisons canton, rich in artistic and cultural treasures – an abandoned historic building dating back to 1864 has been transformed into Ai Cav Calanca, a designer bed and breakfast, furnished by LAGO. This evocative accommodation facility is once again a reference point for all nature-lovers visiting the mountain valley.

The owners were keen to restore the building’s original charm, reinstating its former purpose as a place of rest and restoration, and preserving its characteristic features. Their wish has been fully respected in the renovation work carried out by Lago Point Arredo Più based in Varese, near Milan. The versatile furniture pieces offered by LAGO DESIGN have been used to create a timeless, contemporary design.

The Air double bed and Air wardrobe clothes rail have been chosen to furnish the bedrooms, to create a stylish, elegant interior for the B&B. Both are modern design ideas for the bedroom space: the most important part of any bed and breakfast. They create a refined, relaxing atmosphere to make guests feel immediately at home. The bedrooms also feature the Chama armchair: a comfortable, practical design idea to furnish the room and create an additional bed.

In addition to a wellness area, a breakfast room and a multifunctional space, the B&B is home to a basement, where guests can enjoy spending time sat around the designer Air tables on suspended Air Wildwood benches. The warmth of the Wildwood oak top alongside the original stone walls creates a unique, textured contrast, honouring the natural surroundings and local area.

B&B Ai Cav Calanca is the ideal designer bed and breakfast for families and small groups on holiday. It provides the perfect base to enjoy some of the many activities on offer in the valley, both in summer and winter. Past and present combine against a beautiful mountainous backdrop, offering unspoilt nature and numerous places of cultural interest.
