Carla Guilhem Design announced today the unveiling of her design project in partnership with Brazilian furniture manufacturer Artefacto in which her firm staged an ultra-luxurious piece of real estate in Miami — a condo at One Thousand Museum located at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard. Artefacto called on Carla Guilhem Design to create a unique living space for model apartment number 3902 at Zaha Hadid’s exclusive development that includes 84 museum-quality residences comprising four duplex townhouses, 70 half-floor units, and 10 full-floor penthouses.

Guilhem designed a total of 4,600 square feet of living space and 630 square feet of terrace space on a half-floor unit on the 39th floor. The team worked almost exclusively with Artefacto collections, incorporating 68 pieces from their line of premium furnishings, including beds, sofas, dining tables, and consoles; 45 accessories such as lamps, rugs, and vases; and 15 pieces of wall art and sculptures. When asked to comment on her design approach, Guilhem noted that she wanted to create a contrast between the organic lines and textures of Artefacto’s pieces against the bold lines of the building’s striking architecture.

“It has been a great pleasure working with Paulo Bacchi and his team at Artefacto on this very special project,” says Carla Guilhem. “Artefacto’s distinct furniture lines allowed us to create a design that combines the aggressive black and white lines of Zaha Hadid’s architecture with the organic forms and colors of Miami’s abundant nature that Artefacto captures so well. The result is a truly unique experience.”

The futuristic-looking One Thousand Museum building cost $280 million to build and was completed in 2019. It is one of only two residential buildings in North America designed by internationally recognized architect Zaha Hadid. In 2020, celebrity couple Victoria and David Beckham purchased a full-floor 11,000-square-foot penthouse unit in the building for $20 million.

The commissioned partnership between Carla Guilhem Design and Artefacto is part of a long list of high-end projects completed by Guilhem’s firm. She describes her design style as ever-changing based on a client’s individual vision and attributes part of her firm’s success to their willingness to embrace and work within multiple design aesthetics rather than a singular signature “look.”

“Growing up, I would spend afternoons in my family’s millwork and furniture company in São Paulo, Brazil and I was mesmerized by the creative process,” recalls Guilhem of her early inspirations. “Whether it was selecting the perfect natural wood and applying finishes, or simply cutting and measuring the fabrics, I knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to creation and design.”

Today, Carla Guilhem Design creates luxury interior designs for high-end residential and commercial projects including private residences, condos, apartments, resorts, and retail. Winner of BUILD’s Best Luxury Interior Design Studio 2020 for the U.S. Atlantic Coast, her firm continues to push the boundaries of its offerings including a recent project where they outfitted a 140-foot custom super yacht in the Netherlands.
