Cape Town International Airport | Design Scape
Cape Town / South Africa / 2020
Design Scape Architects are in the process of designing the new International Terminal at Cape Town International Airport, the new “Terminal 2” and upgrade to the existing “Terminal 1” comprises 30 000 msq in area at a value of R2,7 Billion.
The terminal is conceived as a new building with its own identity, the next phase of development for the Airport as it moves toward the North in line with the masterplan for the airport. A new building identity will give flexibility to be able to key into the existing terminals but at the same time provide a product tailored to the specific briefing requirements that this terminal will need to satisfy.
The building is then organised with three main points of departure namely: Side bookends; Roof and Visual connection through the building.
