Bronte House

ENG - We are on the coast, between Tamarama and Bronte, eastern suburbs of Sydney. The villa is very close to the beach and is coated by copper sheets that show their true age. The special tactile and material effect was a specific request from the client, who refurbished the building with the architect Justin Long, coordinated by the team of Boffi|DePadova Studio Sydney, and the landscape designer William Dangar of Dangar Barin Smith studio. Steel, stone and wood are the other materials used to intensify the natural, casual and above all welcoming atmosphere of this house. Hospitality and
conviviality are the keys to access this three-levels century-old villa, redesigned with the precise idea of removing visual and physical barriers, connecting the inner and outer spaces with a focus on the versatile k14 kitchen, designed by Norbert Wangen.

The main players in this real, functional and dynamic location are the furnishings, together with the experience of whom knows how to design a home. Four bedrooms, including a suite, a studio thought as a guest room, a large number of bathrooms and two en suites, and a large and luminous living area. The villa has been restored to its former elegance adding a contemporary structure in the front and the back, to cover the terraces and entrance. The elegance marks spontaneously the choice of furniture: each piece enhances a corner, every room and the space as a whole. The Donzelletta chairs (design Michele De Lucchi) around the living room table, the Uragano chairs (design Vico Magistretti) made of rattan and wood, the Yak armchairs (design Lucidi Pevere) with the leather back in front of the fireplace, the timeless Louisana ( Vico Magistretti design) in the bedroom, the classic Pouf Capitonné in the study ... all tables, sofas, lamps and everything else seem to be in the right place since forever. The desire is to take notes to get inspirations.

ITA - Siamo sulla costa, fra Tamarama e Bronte, sobborghi orientali di Sidney. A un passo dalla spiaggia, il rivestimento di rame è destinato a far contare i suoi anni. L’effetto tattile e materico è stata una precisa richiesta del committente, che ha condiviso il lavoro di ristrutturazione con l’architetto Justin Long e il team locale di Boffi|DePadova Studio Sydney. Oltre che con il paesaggista William Dangar di Dangar Barin Smith, per quello che riguarda il coloratissimo giardino. Acciaio, pietra e legno sono gli altri materiali che creano l’atmosfera naturale e informale, ma soprattutto accogliente. Dato che sono proprio l’accoglienza e la convivialità le chiavi di accesso a questa casa centenaria su tre livelli, riprogettata con la precisa idea di eliminare barriere visive, e fisiche, fra l’interno e l’esterno e di fare della cucina il vero cuore della dimora familiare con la versatilità di K14, disegnata da Norbert Wangen.

Un contesto reale, funzionale e pieno di vita in cui gli arredi sono protagonisti, insieme all’esperienza di chi sa come creare una casa. Quattro camere da letto, di cui una suite padronale, uno studio concepito anche come stanza per gli ospiti, un gran numero di bagni, compresi due en-suite, e la ampia e luminosa zona living. Eliminati gli interventi sovrapposti negli anni, aggiunta una struttura contemporanea, nel fronte e nel retro per creare la copertura delle terrazze e dell’ingresso esterno, la villa è stata riportata alla sua eleganza originaria. Eleganza che ha guidato in modo istintivo la scelta dei mobili. Per questo ogni cosa descrive al meglio un angolo, ogni ambiente e lo spazio nel suo insieme. Le sedie Donzelletta (Michele De Lucchi design) intorno al tavolo del soggiorno, le Uragano (Vico Magistretti design) di rattan e legno, le avvolgenti poltrone Yak (Lucidi Pevere design) con lo schienale di cuoio di fronte al camino, le intramontabili Louisana (Vico Magistretti design) nella camera da letto, il classico pouf Capitonné nello studio… i tavolini, i divani, le lampade e tutto il resto sembra che siano lì da sempre. Viene davvero voglia di prendere appunti per ispirarsi.
