Stockholm Concert Hall (Konserthuset) was designed by Ivar Tengbom and inaugurated in 1926. The building is considered a highlight of 1920s classicism and is largely very well preserved. The interior was designed in collaboration with the then leading artists and designers such as Isaac Grünewald, Carl Malmsten, Einar Forseth, Carl Milles, and more.

Since 2014, we have worked with the renovation and interior design of the building. The frequently used premises were in a great need of renovation and needed to be adapted to new conditions and functions. Lodges, rehearsal rooms, changing rooms, music libraries and artist entrances have been rebuilt, renovated and given new furnishings, which are mostly specially designed. In the additions that have been made, we have started from the house's existing ornamentation and from this picked patterns and details for, among other things, specially designed rugs.

Through a completely new floor plan, design and interior design, the artist entrance has been upgraded to a dignified, welcoming and functional environment. Color and material choices are made with inspiration from the beautiful orchestral instruments. As part of the project, we have, together with conservators, reviewed the existing stock of Malmsten furnitures and made assessments and descriptions for the disposal. We have also developed a new chair for the Grünewald Hall together with Åke Axelsson.

In the large foyer and on the first and second balconies, the latest additions consist of new specially designed serving counters with associated luminaires. Mobile furnishings in the large foyer have also been added.

AIX has both interior design and architectural assignments in the building. Antiquarian participation and expert accessibility are also competencies that AIX stands for and the project is a typical example of how these competencies are intertwined and enriched each other.
