A Modern and Cosy Apartment.

This apartment is centrally located in Rome, in a building neighboring the notorious Palazzi Federici designed in 1931 by the rationalist architect Mario De Rienzi.

The client's brief required open spaces layouts characterised by a convivial atmosphere, a home that: should be modern but welcoming at the same time, as per the clients' words.

The original layout was constituted by a fragmentary series of independent rooms, as per the customs in fashion when the scheme was originally built.

LUMME's task was to deconstruct, lighten, and remove all that was non-essential, aiming at showing as much as possible of the shell, deliberately exposing the bare structure's materials whilst aiming at rendering the space less rigid through the strategic use of, both fixed and mobile, familiar, recognizable and softer fit out components.
