Coffee shop culture has become a booming industry in our current milenium. From self-employed seat warmers frequenting their local coffee house, to gatherings of both the young and old alike, these bean-roasting, caffeine riddled coffee shops are buzzing seven days a week. Seems like „Huracan Coffee“ cafe is no exception to such activities, but something is rather different about their new location at Vilnius Merchant Club.

For many years The Merchants Club united Vilnius‘ greatest merchants and homeowners. Since 1913 this building has held some of the finest city cafes and shops. At the top of the baroque style turret stands a statue of Atlantis holding the skies on his shoulders, symbolizing harmony for society among other things. The oldest specialty coffee roasters in Lithuania „Huracan Coffee and their partners, „Giedraitis & architektai“, had an important task – to harmoniously preserve the refined historical style while revealing the company‘s proggressive view of today‘s coffee culture.

Between the the contemporary interior elements – stainless steel wire walls and cabinetry alongside rusted metal tabletops – the most important „Huracan Coffee“ attribute is its cosmic-like bar area where the latest Dalla Corte XT and Mahlkoenig coffee technology is front and center. Respecting unchanging values, something important to „Huracan Coffee”, is an ode to the warm sound of playing records with a vinyl wall composition. All of these details beautifully contrast with the modern XIX neoclassicist architectural details, reminding us – real things never go out of style.

If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by, grab a coffee, and enjoy the comforts of an old classic with a modern twist!
