The Student Life project includes the construction of the new living spaces for students, passive outdoor areas for common use, access to the existing street, and the corresponding infrastructure. The proposed new building will have six floors and approximately 182,810 square feet to accommodate the program, projected to have the capacity for 552 students with different types of bedrooms, including single, double and quadruple rooms.

The building’s functionality and aesthetics will strategically respond to the surrounding areas activities, from pedestrian activity within the campus, down to the interactions between the students and the community. The Student Life Project’s objective is to become an example of student residential living by elevating their academic and social success.  Pedestrian traffic from surrounding areas will create interactions between students and the community in the new outdoor areas and the inviting architecture of the new building.

The new student housing structure will be centrally located between the academic and campus sport facilities, in a highly visible area in the RUM, which will help strengthen the university and campus’s identity while still respecting and valuing it.  The creation of this new building hopes to use its design to emphasize the student’s university experience, not only for those who will eventually live in the building, but also for people who visit and spend time in this iconic learning environment.

This new building will create a new identity for the campus, a new reference point. The urban facade and exterior common areas are elements that will give off the feeling of not only being on campus, but also in a community.  This project strives to become an asset, adding value and income to the institution. The proposed design will be functional, aesthetically pleasing and focused in the programmed activities that will enrich and activate the campus life.
