The newly redesigned flagship store of Telenor is located in the middle of downtown

Budapest. The reconstruction covered an area of 300 square meters, and it also
included the building engineering and the electric system of the store. By reshaping
the store, a brand-new design was created, which could even be expanded to all
stores on a country-level. Beyond the usual point of sale, the store accommodates a
community office - which can be used by anyone -, as well as three meeting rooms of
different sizes.

The idea at the heart of the concept is that customers should rather feel they arrive in
a friendly space of a cafe-like atmosphere instead of being in a cold, high-tech store
for doing administrative work. The birch plywood materials soften the elegant,
somewhat cooler anthracite surfaces, and make it feel more like home. However, the
high number of plants and the pastel shades of the lights illuminating the plants are
equally important, which loosen up the structured plaster as hard as concrete, as well
as the anthracite surfaces. We expected a lot of product placement, screens,
luminous logos, thus we tried to shape the environment into a space as neutral as
possible in order not to get a noisy result. Our objective was to create a future-proof
design so that it can be compatible with newer and newer brand content.

The planning of such a flagship store is a challenge in itself but the design team and
Telenor already moved forward: at the moment, we are working to see how this
design can be converted into a basically modular system of scale that can be
produced in high quantities. We are already working on the design drafts of five
stores - smaller and in the countryside -, whose construction will begin soon.
