With a breathtaking view above Cluj-Napoca, Epitet Residence has the urban, retro, artsy, altogether contemporary air, mingling straight and tumultuous lines. In a minimalism merged with a bit of coziness, the house opens itself both to the needs of the lonely, bohemian Cluj artist and to those of a large family.

In defining the concept of the project, we were inspired by a whole universe of mythical creatures that inspire calm and serenity. A neutral chromatic background of light gray tones unifies almost all the rooms and creates the frame in which various pieces of furniture define the character & identity of the various spaces of the house. Wood, leather and metal have always played a very important role in our design discourse, and in this project we discovered the perfect environment in which to harmonize them all.

The second floor is a large open space integrating the main functions of the living area: the kitchen, the dining room and the living room. The kitchen distinguishes itself by its simple design, an optimal organization of the working area, utility and attention to detail. The rich texture palette includes: smooth gray MDF panels, the reflective surface of the antique mirror backsplash and various wood and metal textures for the furniture pieces. Together, these add an industrial edge to the design. The table in the dining area becomes the centerpiece of the space through the massiveness of the oak countertop, which seems to float on the metal legs, an effect doubled by the elegance and transparency of the metal mesh chairs, inspired by the ‘50s.

In balancing contrast with the kitchen universe, the living area is designed in light colors and soft textures for the sofa and the bench, opening itself towards the outdoor terrace and the view of the city.

The reading room is designed as a space for meditation and introspection. It is minimally furnished with an open metallic bookcase, a geometric composition of deconstructivist inspiration in which wooden countertops are inserted into a metal frame, designed as a display for books and decorative objects of various sizes.

The master bedroom of Epitet Residence perfectly embodies the concepts of serenity & calm.

This is the space where amazing wooden beams of over a century-old blend with white bricks, metal pieces of furniture and the ever-timeless Eames lounge chair.

A contemporary modern look mingles with bites of history while the user transcends into a state of absolute peace.

Cluj-Napoca is one of the most famous cities in Romania in terms of the artistic community in full development, and we wanted to illustrate that aspect into our project. Placed in strategic places, the murals contribute to the increase of the artistic emotion and to the creation of a calming atmosphere, introducing the viewer in a state of progressive autogenous relaxation.

One of our favorite spaces of this kind is the reading area on the top floor, an intimate space, where the user arrives only at the end of the architectural journey, as a metaphor for finding one's own self.
