In balance between a contemporary space and the historical memory Italy / 2018

This small apartment is located near the Central Station area of Milan, inside a typical Milanese courtyard building. It is owned by a young creative couple and faces both the internal courtyard and the external famous Gluck Street, enjoying natural light with different intensities throughout the day.

In the living room a light separator divides the living area from the study, allowing the space to be more spacious, at the same time more functional.

The custom-designed kitchen fits beautifuly on one side of the open space facing to the living room. This solution allows you to identify a different function within a single space.

A storage cupboard throughout the living room allows you to linguistically unify all the functions of the living area by using indirect lighting, upwards, of the whole environment.

The central part of the house, a green diaphragm that houses the walk-in closet and the bathroom, acts as a passage and division between the living and the sleeping areas.

In the bathroom, the shower is a block of matter that incorporates a window open towards the bedroom to take advantage of the natural light of the window.

The floor material of the master room differs from the rest of the apartment and reinterprets, playing chromatically, the traditional cement floors typical of the Milanese houses of the beginning of the century.

The project is a search for balance between a contemporary space and the historical memory of a traditional Milanese railing apartment, without however falling into a nostalgic approach.
