Casa SR is a summer house in Torricella, a town in Apulia in the south Italy. The spatiality of the house has a double nature: a public one, which identifies the East-West axis, and a private one, heading North-South. All the collective living places of the house such as the entrance, the living room, the swimming pool and the entrance to the small outbuilding, are aligned on the public axis and connected to each other by a continuous travertine slab flooring that crosses the building without interruction transforming the living room into the "square" of the house.

The private places of living are instead connected through the internal axis which crossing the house from North to South, represents a real road. In fact, the corridor has an articulated spatiality that alternates the accesses to the bedrooms and the resting places, with seats placed in alignment with the openings on the garden. The corridor is illuminated by a series of openings, small windows to the east and french doors to the west, which allows a dynamically changing view of the succession of internal and external spaces of the accommodation.

The three bedrooms never look out on the main front for ensure privacy, lighting is ensured by the presence of large windows overlooking the private internal gardens of each room.

La spazialità della casa ha una doppia natura: una pubblica, che si identifica con l’asse Est-Ovest, e una privata, in direzione Nord-Sud.

Tutti i luoghi di vita collettiva dell’abitazione, come l’ingresso, il soggiorno, la piscina e l’ingresso alla piccola depandance, sono allineati sull’asse pubblico e collegati fra di loro da una pavimentazione continua in lastre di travertino che, senza soluzione di continuità, attraversa l’edificio trasformando il soggiorno nella “piazza” della casa.

I luoghi privati dell’abitare sono invece collegati tramite l’asse interno che, attraversando la casa da Nord a Sud, rappresenta una vera e propria strada. Il corridoio infatti presenta una spazialità articolata che alterna gli accessi alle camere da letto a luoghi di sosta, con sedute poste in allineamento alle aperture sul giardino. Il corridoio viene illuminato da una serie di aperture, piccole finestre a Est e porte finestre a Ovest, che permette una visione dinamicamente mutevole della successione degli spazi interni ed esterni dell’alloggio.

Le tre camere da letto non hanno mai affaccio sul fronte principale al fine di garantire la privacy e una adeguata esposizione degli spazi: l’illuminazione viene assicurata dalla presenza di ampie porte finestre che si affacciano sui giardini interni privati di ogni camera.
