Seduta Maris - Teatro Griot | Stefania Vestuto

The project is the winner of the first prize of the "Ordinamenta Maris 2013" competition promoted by the municipality of Trani and by the order of the APPC of the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani.

At the basis of the design idea is the desire to represent the link between the city and the sea, through an essential graphic sign that recalls the geometry of a marine shell.
From here, Seduta Maris was born, an architectural work that underlines the intimate connection between the city and the sea.
The city with the rules of behavior, with the synthesis of behavioral customs that for centuries has been renewed every day in the daily life of the community's actions: as 950 years ago the "Ordinamenta Maris" was a regulatory instrument, so today the set of regulations and rules govern the relationship between land and sea.

For this Seduta Maris embraces, welcomes the sea with the harmonic seat of the spiral shape that represents its life-generating force and regulates its shape under precise algorithms.

The relationship with the territory is a fundamental element of the expression of the work.
Force of the sea wind, force of the wave, the session represents the need for reflection, openness to the sea that connects the latter with the community.

The technological system from which the composition is born, allows a sustainable approach to architecture, perceptible and on the local economy and as a significant social tool. In this sense, the possibility of having a workforce that is not necessarily specialized, allows the client to become an active part of the work himself, developing through collaboration a rediscovered collective identity.

There is an intrinsic collaboration in terms of action and reaction between the masonry, which better than other construction forms symbolically represents the social structure of communities, of cities, with the necessary collaboration between individuals (bricks) for the proper functioning of the work.

All this is immediately reflected in the realization of the work, which, as it was not possible to carry it out in the municipality that had named it the winner, was made, however, in another Apulian municipality, Lucera. With the help of a local association, "Z'Unica" and together with the locals, the Griot Theater was born, a scenic backdrop overlooking a wide panorama and hosting various artistic performances.
