"Bread Station" was operating in a small 30 square meter space in Givatayim. Although sales were good and customers kept coming back and enjoying themselves, it was clear that the space had a much greater potential. A renovation was carried out during the week long passover holiday where most people work only half days. This renovation certainly changed the face of the space and the business as a whole.

In small spaces, there are two options when it comes to placing a work desk together with a main counter. One option is to place the counters vertically and the second, placing them parallel to the entrance. In this case, it was clear that the vertical shape suffocated the space and limited movement for the customers, which would result in a reduction of sales due to overcrowding. In order to avoid this problematic situation, the first thing we did was to move the work counters to the back of the space where an unused space that was closed behind a drywall was. It immediately made the whole space look big and spacious, changing the entire feel.

As part of the brand’s design theme, the main counter is designed as a station made of iron columns and a slanted, oxidized tin roof. Due to the slant and framing, a visual illusion was created, which caused the box office to appear as if it were further away which made the space appear longer.

To complete the industrial look, the long walls on both the right and the left were covered with concrete-like cladding. We hung street signs on the walls which were designed according to the brand. All along the right wall we placed refrigerators with prepared sandwiches and drinks. Beside them there is a freezer with cakes and various confectionery products.

On the left wall, there are metal shelves which include heating surfaces for pastries, as well as display shelves for cookies and breads. A service cart was designed in the center of the space allowing the display of various products at different heights. Just below it there is a display of spreads and sauces, as well as concealed storage for packaging. During the busiest hours it is even possible to take the cart out to promote freer movement around the space.

The floor was covered with long and narrow tiles in a rough gray shade similar to the sidewalk on the street. The entire place is characterized by a modern and light industrial style. The ceiling is painted black and in addition to the accumulator lines and the peripheral light fixtures, there is also a large and impressive lighting fixture in the center of the space which illuminates the exposed materials in a warm and pleasant light.

After the renovation, the successful branch was rewarded with an increase in sales and a new clientele. Customers felt comfortable entering the spacious space ultimately staying longer while purchasing more products.
