The Seelenort (place of soul) in Sauerland is a joint project of the local community of Referinghausen. It is financed by donations, grants and work support of the inhabitants. The Seelenort is located on a hill near the village and is a place to find calmness and inner peace. It is made out of recycled material and can be seen from far away as a small landmark in the landscape.

The building is integrated into the network of „Sauerland Seelenorte“, 43 special places, „which touch people emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They produce strong resonances. These are places where people can hike and where they calm down. To enjoy the silence. To be inspired. To gain new insights. Even if every Seelenort tells its own story, there is one quality that unites each of them: living silence.“ (quote: Sauerland Seelenorte, 2019)
