Star Market is the missing piece to The Hub on Causeway, a bustling transit-oriented development adjacent to North Station and TD Garden in downtown Boston.

The largest supermarket in Boston, Star Market at TD Garden is the newest store within this highly recognized northeast grocery brand. Located next to the TD Garden sports and entertainment arena and North Station, the approximately 60,000 sq. ft. store addresses a “grocery vacancy” for the area, offering an abundance of fresh produce, pre-made meals, a custom Starbucks, Regina Pizzeria, Instacart grocery delivery and pick-up, and a full-service pharmacy.

Star Market is situated at and below the ground level of the Gensler-designed, 500-foot towers that are part of The Hub on Causeway mixed-use development, which includes more than 1.5 million square feet of retail, office, and residential space, as well as a citizenM hotel and an expansion of TD Garden.

Designing Star Market within this dense urban environment, during construction of the overall development, required close coordination with The Hub on Causeway developers, Boston Properties and Delaware North, and architect, Gensler. Some of the complexities included making horizontal connections to the existing parking garage below the train station/stadium by cutting through the three-foot-thick stadium foundation wall and creatively locating the supermarket’s 13 heating and cooling units within the ceiling space.

Cushing Terrell provided architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, refrigeration, and structural services for the project.
