A central piece of furniture defines space in this Parisian apartment

Divided by a structural wall into two zones, the apartment is organized as a semi open space around a central wooden object. The absence of other separating walls gives the impression of a generous space while the in-built furniture is providing intimacy and storage for the living room, the bedroom and the kitchen.

By circling around the central element, each room can be accessed without ending up in a cul-de-sac. An integrated sliding door and wardrobe doors that double as a room door allow to separate the different spaces.

The deliberate choice of limiting the woodworks to one central part of the apartment underline the character of the intervention as an ‘objet posé’.

Ulli Heckmann collaborated on this project with interior designer Jeanette Linda Seebacher who completed his approach in space planning and his technical understanding with her sensibility for materials and furniture.
