Palais Campofranco

The architectural structure of an old building on Waltherplatz in Bolzano, South Triol, formed the basis for this project. In the course of the renovation of the Palais, a design concept for the newly built restaurant and bar had to be developed. In order to create a homogeneous overall picture of the new facilities, a comprehensive material and colour concept was developed for the exterior and interior spaces. The concept is based on light cream white and beige, in combination with various brown shades and dark blue. 

The interior of the restaurant is an extended room that is glassed all around; on the one hand, you can look into the newly designed inner courtyard of the palais, on the other hand you can look over the terrace to the big square next to it. In contrast to the glass fronts, the ceiling is made of dark wooden planks and the floor of beige tiles. In order to structure the long room, narrow wooden panels with slats were planned. They separate the room into areas without really separating them. Semi-transparent curtains in white accentuate the transition between interior and exterior space. 

The interior design for the bar with its deep blue walls, the bar counter made of dark wood and the bar chairs in bright orange – brown ties in with the color concept. Illuminated wine cabinets serve to present the wines on display; the tables with cream-coloured stone tops can also be used as standing tables, depending on space requirements. Spotlights in various sizes adorn the ceiling of the bar and are intended to remind one of a starry night sky. In addition, hanging lights above the counter and the tables provide adequate lighting.
