A trail for the historical park was proposed as ‘Dule-gil’ of Oido, including Oido Historical Park as a part of the exhibition sequence. Not satisfied with it being purely confined within the existing museum boundaries, the architecture was intended to serve as a landmark within the western coast area, with grand views to the sea emphasized that would help garner appreciation for the prehistoric era, with the architecture itself being comprised of both regional characteristics and the surrounding natural environment of Oido. The pedestrian overpass connecting the park and the site was expanded towards the entry area of the exhibition hall in order to create a connection space that links together both the exhibition hall and the nearby landscape. Wanting to accurately express the surrounding coastal area and natural environment of Oido, the projected exterior windows were designed in the shape of a barnacle that can be found on a rock in a mud flat, while the main architectural mass was designed by applying a unique salt-resistant monocouche finish, expressing the bedrock quality of the architectural massing itself.
