Following the basic theme of ‘Gymnasium of the Light’, this impressive gymnasium is finished with glass all around its exterior and houses a multifunctional gymnasium that contains 6,690 seats and an ice gymnasium that contains 1,284 seats. Three masses illustrating a traditional Korean cottage allow daylight to enter in from the outside to make the city, architecture, and audience all combine to become one singular entity. The floor is oval-shaped, and the inclusion of exposed pipe trusses express the beauty of their compression and sealing. Breaking away from the concept of more traditional and simple gymnasiums, we strived to create a more modern and contemporary design, reflected in the inclusion of up-to-date technology and trends located throughout the complex.
