Under the concept of a "changing landscape", the new 2nd Headquarters of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service is designed as an embodiment of three ideas; harmony, symbolism and communication. The first landscape emphasizes harmony and contrasts with both the surrounding environment and the existing headquarters. The second landscape describes a transitional flow of the symbolic statement that is expressed by Building 1 and, in a wider sense, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service as a whole. And the third landscape promotes communication with the neighboring natural and humanistic environments, as well as with the locals. Positioned at the entrance to the Wonju Innovation City cluster, Building 2 will become a new landmark as a gateway to the city. Designed under the concept of "three changing landscapes", the new building's horizontal form invokes a seamless harmony with the vertical expression of Building 1, building upon the expanded and evolved symbolism of Building 1. The bridge linked to Building 1 is extended to both an interior lobby and an outdoor courtyard to enhance engagement with the building. The low-rise podium expresses the image of an open space communicating with its local community. The Great Facade was inspired by the colors of traditional Korean pottery. The facade as a whole also changes color depending on the amount of daylight exposure. The line of the building glimmers, reflecting the colors of the sky. A white tone was proposed for the interior to visually contrast with the turquoise exterior facade. The foyer is finished with wood to help maintain a sense of visual warmth and stability.
