The area of the project occupies a rich and strategic zone, namely the historical-cultural belt of Qinhan which connects the ruins of the ancient city to the archaeological sites. In this place, in addition to the strong pre-existing farming activity, small villages are found in the deep gorges dug naturally in the ground. With the utmost respect for the characteristics of the place, the design is based on a central axis where the two natural key elements, the green from the north and
the water from the south, meet exactly at the centre; the place in which the key attractions of the future city are concentrated. The heart of the city, symbolically “monitored” by six towers, transposition of the Soldiers of Clay that protect the site, also represents the pivot of the different flows. Around it, the districts made independent from each other thanks to a balanced mix
of functions, in which it is possible to find all the services: offices, shopping and sport, reducing the time spent on the way and always maintaining the city alive in all its parts. The park, composed by sloping plains in contrast to the surrounding flat panorama, is the key protagonist of the intervention.
