ISHU - INTERNATIONAL SPECIALISED HOSPITAL OF UGANDA | Progetto CMR - Massimo Roj Architects

Sustainability and innovation are behind the design of this cutting-edge hospital complex, which will be built over an area of 300,000 m² and composed of 9 buildings which, aside from the hospital, will house support structures such as housing for doctors
and nurses, a training school, a congress centre, a hotel and shops. The low buildings disappear into nature following the natural curves of the land; the façades, characterised by light colours, the use of local stone and by the interwoven decor which recall the typical textures of the place, tell of the strong connection to this magnificent land and its traditions. ISHU is a healthcare facility with a human face designed first and foremost for the patients, where the interiors are lit by natural light, materials and furnishings are colorful, wanting to appear more like homes than hospital.
