In the refurbishment of this 1950s property, we were able to play to our strengths; combining old and new to create a comfortable, yet striking interior.  We took inspiration from the owners’ modern tastes and Argentinian art collection as well as the beautiful, existing inherited antique pieces.

We maintained and restored original gesso and stucco and then painted it white along with the remaining ceilings and walls to provide a contemporary feel.  In one bathroom, we restored antique Chinese wallpaper and added modern Fornasetti tiles to create contrast and a luxurious space. For the others we used coloured resins and Bisazza mosaic.

We refurbished the antique herringbone wooden floor throughout the house and added neutral tones and bold fabrics from the Designers Guild to create an intimate family home. Antique crystal chandeliers form a striking centrepiece while contemporary lighting from Delta Light, lends atmosphere and serves to highlight the Argentinian artwork.

Responding to the clients’ love of entertaining, we created a large modern kitchen and traditional, comfortable dining area.  Reacting to our clients’ changing needs and ideas, we revised plans and created a new entertaining area close to the kitchen. New openings towards the winter garden allow natural light to this living area.

We were asked to create his and her study spaces and based the design on the clients’ different personalities. For one, we preserved beautiful antique carpets and restored an original wooden carved boisery to create a comfortable and stylish study place.  For the other, we used heavily patterned fabrics and wallpaper, warm colours and mixed antique and modern furniture to craft a warm and secluded space.
