The organization “JITO”, Bangalore envisaged a luxurious bold hostel for the girls in the heart of city, with all necessary security and safety measures to give a comfortable living at affordable price.
The design team planned for ecofriendly and sustainable architecture with brutalism style. The parabolic shaped courtyard, ignites active cooling. The palette of materials used, lend an earthy feel to the facade. A play of light and shadow is formed in the concave elements planned on the façade, this further reduces the ambient temperature. The rat trap bond creates air gap to reduce the inner ambient temperature. This also reduces the overall consumption of construction materials.
The vertical garden given in the façade further forms insulation layer reducing the inner temperature. All sustainable parameters like rain water harvesting, solar energy, Water treatment, etc. have incorporated.
The wellbeing of the inmates is well planned with a gymnasium and activity room in the top floor. The top floor also houses the dining section and well-equipped digital library.
