Living by the sea has been a habit experienced by generations of Brazilians. Overlooking miles of coast and seas of green has always seemed natural to life "on the shore". What is not always obvious, however, is that each home built by the sea keeps its own characteristics and mood.
In the case of this project, designed by architect Fernanda Marques for a family of six, in azure Miami, the emphasis is on two elements: lightness and sophistication. Two inseparable components in all the works by the Brazilian architect, translated here as a well-balanced mix
of Brazilian art and design classics.

Worked with sensitivity by Fernanda Marques, works signed by Sergio Rodrigues, tables and chairs by Joaquim Tenreiro and Jorge Zalszupin, some of Brazil’s design icons, live in perfect harmony with craft furniture - as it happens in his private beach house in Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro. Also represented are some of the best moments of Brazilian art, present in the works of Helio Oiticica, Lygia Clark and Lygia Pape.

In the best style of pared down elegance of Fernanda Marques’s projects, throughout the apartment, the travertine marble floor is combined with wood. The family room has a playroom for the kids and at the same time, a kitchen to support everyday life. In a corner of the room, a Knopp mobile stands out against the glass panels that surround most of the length of the room.
Gently sophisticated, the master suite received soft colors as well, wood paneling and a table, plus photographs by Sebastiao Salgado and Luiz Braga. The bathroom, with its clearly minimalistic approach, has a green wall next to the bathtub; a fresh tropical touch in the setting.
