The story of this compact family house began in the 2015 year with an architectural study young family with two kids decided to move e to a location which is on the edge of the Slovak capital - Bratislava, named Vrakuňa.

As is typical for this location, the site is flat, and the surrounding environment still carries many historical connotations to the original rural context. BLNT house was finished in 2018 year and our studio designed also the interior of the house which was fully finished in 2019 year.

Since we looked for the first time on the clean plot, we start to organize the general disposition of the site with the main goal to create ate simple-shaped compact house, which will cut a reasonable portion of the garden with its volume, as a benefit for clients. Another welcomed condition of the design was to create volume which will not stick up from surrounding volumes of older structures.

On the first floor, you can find all semi-public and functional elements such as the living room united with the kitchen with a connection to the garden and pool. On the 2nd floor are mainly placed more intimate and private parts of the house as bedrooms, and kids‘ rooms connected to the bathrooms.

As a vocabulary of design language, we chose white plaster with structure, wooden cladding, and white bricks which were typical materials of all structures here for a long time - simply typical local materials.

Bricks are used here as artistic detail of the house, but their purpose is also to provide shading and make some parts of the house more private, with options to look throughout the house by their residents.

In the end, clients got a house that is very modern in its expression, but with a touch of local ingredients in a friendly and still traditional-looking location of Bratislava.
