a green oase in the heart of Amsterdam, the Netherlands | Houthandel Jos BV h.o.d.n. Dennebos Flooring

Through OTH architects, an architectural practice we cooparated with on various projects, we came in touch with the owner of this private residence in the heart of Amsterdam. The owner had 150 years old pine boards available, originally coming from the elephants stay of Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. Plan was to saw these 4 cm thick boards in wearlayers and glue them on a birch ply backing to be suitable for fitting over an underfloor heating system. Unfortunately we faced a lot of forged nails which destoyed quite a few of our sawblades. Because of this we had to decide to stop the sawing process. The owner came over to our production and saw our reclaimed oak floorboards which had exactly the appearance he and his wife were searching for. Have a look at the astonishing result.
