On a sloping plot in Skodsborg north of Copenhagen with a view over Øresund, a yellow stone villa built in the early 1930s is located. The villa has a kindship to the buildings Arne Jakobsen designs during the same periode - before functionalism and later modernism really became prominent in the Scandinavian countries.

The family was facing a family increase and wanted an extension of the house by 100 procent to 200 m2. Towards south a parallel building with two floors was erected. The new building is placed in such a way, that the existing building’s stunning view isn’t compromised. In the space between these two building a transparent connecting building was build - containing the dining room on the ground floor and a large bedroom with balcony overlooking the east on the second floor.

The extension has been carried out in respect of the plot’s surroundings and the existing building’s architecture, which is emphasized and challenged by a number af new modernist and contemporary approaches. A terrace was constructed on the east side and the west side of the connecting building, therefor one experiences the dining room floor continues as an unbroken terrace.
