Casa R is set in a beautiful hilly terrain with a stunning 180-degree view.

The house is located in an area with scattered cottage buildings, trees and a fantastic view over the fjord. The plot is surrounded by nature and slopes directly down to the water.

Via a dirt road Casa R turn up right about where the road turns a corner. The proximity to the route of arrival, as well as the desire for privacy, help determine the concept of the house – an elongated building with a floating roof.

Facing the road, the façade appears as a unified, rectangular brick façade, which only opens up at the main entrance. The characteristic roof with an overhang creates shelter and gives the house character. Opposite the closed façade towards the road, the south is one large open glass façade with slender bars, which with large sliding doors can be opened all the way up to both sides. In this large space the inside and outside melts together. Here is a large open kitchen with dining area, fireplace and the living room.

At the rear part of the house bedrooms, baths, utility room and hallway is located. These spaced is also connected to the view towards the south. In both bedrooms, the view is ensured by long rectangular windows and even from the bathtub you can see the bay. The rear of the house is flanked by built-in garages on both sides.

The simple concept of the house is repeated in the selection of materials, which also recognizes a simple and implemented principle with three primary materials. The house is made of narrow, gray-brown Kolumba tile – a material that continues in the interior. In addition, the façade is characterized by a cladding in Tombak on the garage and entrance door.

The third material is wood, more specific Douglas Pine. All sliding doors in the house are veneered with Douglas Pine. All the floors throughout the house, except the utility room and bath, are made with planks in the same material. Even the list on the roof overhang is Douglas Pine.
