On a plot next too the Storebælt Bridge, where there used to be an old cottage from the 20s, there is now a brand-new house there meet the needs of a growing family with children and grandchildren. A house to accommodate people and at the same time be the ideal setting for cozy family weekends and sunny summer holidays. The house is designed with inspiration from the existing house, which for many years have evolved to meet new needs and adapt to the site-specific qualities. It consists of parallel and staggered parts, which partly contain common living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms.

The living room, which has a ceiling height of 3.7 m, has uninterrupted views of the water and the small beach below the house, while the rooms are more screened. The house has a high base of in-situ cast concrete that includes a garage, basement facilities, spa and a family room with ocean view and access to a to a sunny spot close to the beach. Living rooms and rooms are upstairs and protruding from the base. This part is lined with black painted boards and has large characteristic sliding doors that can open the house up the water to the east or the evening sun to the west.

Several sides of the builder’s family assisted with the sketching of the house to elucidate every aspect of the use. The whole process has from all sides been uplifted by the unique belief that this incredibly beautiful and characterful ground required the same of the architecture.

Casa Spodsbjerg is a classic example of unique architecture requiring a unique thinking builder.
