We brought the outside in with the interior of this Paddington residence, taking cues from the exterior architecture; creating a holistic, modern design while referencing the Regency style through material palette and detail.

We were charged with transforming a thinly-veiled Victorian terrace style house, consisting of a series of split levels and small dysfunctional rooms, into a more spacious and luxurious residence with a sense of arrival and nuanced grandeur. We achieved this by bringing the building line forward, allowing for a stylistic alteration to the façade and accommodation of a formal sitting room which defined the home’s entry sequence and combined rooms to create space and storage.

Deep reveals, channels, indentations and mouldings punctuate the surfaces, playing with light to create shadow and relief; creating dynamic effects and a consistent architectural language between both façade and interior.

Inside, expanses of eco-certified dark timber joinery are punctuated with golden handles and custom balustrading; bathroom benchtops are cut-away, creating a sense of depth and movement; the stair soffit is bright for graphic contrast and fireplaces divide spaces, detailed with brass hearths and timber veneer surrounds concealing storage.

Our holistic and sustainable design creates a harmonious architectural language between exterior and interior, returning local context to the residence with sensitivity, while transforming its living spaces into spacious, restful and luxurious environments.
