The Cathedral will be the greatest stadium in Europe, its bespoke seating bowl will bring fans closer to the action than ever before and will create an unforgettable atmosphere. The Cathedral will become a global icon — providing a unique home for the legendary clubs of AC Milan and FC Inter Milan.
This is not a generic stadium that could be found in Moscow or Manchester, it is a stadium that draws inspiration from two of Milano’s most iconic buildings; the Duomo and the Galleria. It is a stadium of Milano and for Milano, set in the most sustainable sports and entertainment district in Europe. It is a new icon for Milano.

The stadium will provide a world-class home for AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano and is designed to incorporate their identities into the very fabric of the building. The Cathedral forms a centrepiece for a new San Siro District, a sustainable 365-days-a-year destination that will take the clubs, the fans and the community into an exciting and prosperous future.

A sunlit galleria encircles the stadium enveloped by an elegant glass façade, providing a democratic space for all supporters and the citizens of Milano. Here, a wide-ranging offer of food and beverage outlets inspired by the world-renowned food culture of Milano, lounge spaces and bars cater for all visitors while celebrating the unique culture of Milano.

The Cathedral has been designed to create a unique home for the fans and supporters of AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano, with bespoke installations that dramatically change the appearance of the architecture and incorporate the clubs’ unique identities into the building fabric. For Inter Milan, a coiled viper of blue light wraps itself around the stadium; while for AC Milan, the vertical buttresses glow a smouldering red emanating from the depths of the building.

The stadium is designed to be the most sustainable stadium in Europe. The galleria is naturally cooled and passively heated, photovoltaic panels line the stadium roof to generate electricity that is stored in battery banks for later use, and all rainwater is collected from the roof and reused. The stadium is surrounded by 22 acres of green space, which reduce water runoff and counteract the ‘heat island’ effect. The entire district is connected to a central heating and cooling system.

La Cattedrale sarà il migliore stadio d'Europa. Dotato delle tribune più suggestive e vicine al campo da gioco e con spazi dedicati a tutti i Milanesi, lo Stadio diverrà la vera Casa per i leggendari club del Milan e dell’Inter. Lo stadio non sarà un generico impianto dove si disputano solo delle partite, ma nascerà
dall'anima più storica e intima del capoluogo lombardo, prendendo ispirazione da i due luoghi più iconici di Milano, il Duomo e la Galleria. Sarà lo stadio di Milano, per Milano. Una nuova icona della città, situata nel distretto dello sport e dell'entertainment più sostenibile d'Europa.

Il progetto
La Cattedrale rappresenterà l’eccellenza per quel che riguarda l’esperienza dei tifosi all’interno dello stadio; garantirà un’atmosfera unica durante le partite ed una partecipazione comunitaria senza pari, divenendo così una nuova icona cittadina fedele ai Milanesi e al loro retaggio culturale. Il nuovo Stadio sarà la casa di due Club di livello mondiale, integrando le identità delle due Squadre milanesi nella struttura stessa dell’edificio. La Cattedrale formerà il fulcro del nuovo Distretto di San Siro, una destinazione eco-sostenibile da vivere 365 giorni all’anno, che guiderà i due Club, i tifosi e la comunità verso un radioso e prospero futuro.

I dettagli del progetto
Le tribune progettate appositamente per la Cattedrale saranno le più accoglienti d’Europa, portando i tifosi più vicini che mai al campo da gioco e creando un’atmosfera indimenticabile. Una galleria inondata dalla luce solare circonderà lo Stadio, il quale sarà avvolto da un elegante facciata in vetro. La galleria diverrà uno spazio dedicato a tutti i tifosi e agli abitanti di Milano, dove sarà offerta un’ampia gamma di punti ristoro, bar, lounges e ristoranti ispirati alle rinomate tradizioni enogastronomiche Milanesi. La Cattedrale è stata progettata per essere di volta in volta l’unica e riconoscibile casa sia per i tifosi del Milan che per i tifosi dell’Inter. Attraverso l’uso di installazioni tecnologiche cucite su misura per entrambe le Tifoserie, sarà possibile trasformare drammaticamente l’aspetto architettonico dello Stadio, integrando le identità dei due storici Club nella struttura stessa dell’edificio. Durante le partite dell’Inter, un serpente di luce blu avvolgerà le sue spire intorno alla struttura portante mentre durante le partite del Milan, le colonne saranno avvolte dai riflessi fiammeggianti emanati dalle profondità dell’edificio. Lo Stadio è progettato per essere l’impianto più eco-sostenibile d’Europa. La Galleria sarà ventilata naturalmente e disporrà di strategie di riscaldamento passivo. Pannelli solari saranno integrati sulla copertura dell’edificio, generando elettricità immagazzinata in banchi di batterie. Tutta l’acqua piovana verrà raccolta con apposite tecnologie integrate per poter essere riutilizzata successivamente nell’impianto. Lo stadio sarà circondato da ben 22 acri di spazi verdi permeabili, che agevoleranno il deflusso dell’acqua piovana e contrasteranno l’effetto “isola di calore”. L’intero distretto sarà connesso ad un sistema di riscaldamento e raffrescamento centralizzato in maniera da massimizzare l’efficienza energetica. La Cattedrale diverrà un’icona mondiale per i due leggendari Club e per la città di Milano.
