HABA CLUB | PROGRAM ARCHITECTURE

The client sought to renew his concept of “Vitolas Store” an old place dedicated exclusively to the exhibition and sale of cigars to become “Haba Club” an optimal and pleasant place to host executive meetings in an environment associated with the culture and rituals of smoking cigars.

It was understood that the old store contained a set of representative elements that gave the store a unique and exclusive character. The challenge of the project was to identify and reinterpret the essential elements of the old store and highlight them under the new aesthetic and programmatic concept. The purpose of this search was for both the usual customers of the premises and the owners to maintain the roots they felt towards the old store, with this purpose the essential aesthetic elements of the old store with which customers were identified. Among these elements was a Humidor of 8 m2, a wooden figure of a cohíba Indian of 1.5m x 1.75m, armchairs of different finishes, pictures of emblematic figures smoking. We consider these pieces of great value and began to be recovered and exhibited in the main points of the premises as protagonists.

The Old Store worked as an open space. It was sought to highlight it by placing new uses perimetrically to it, a kitchen, a V.I.P. room, a bar suitable for the sale of liquors and a lobby. This way a purely container space was transformed into a content and container one.

The project revealed the original ceiling, a concrete finish in clean work dating from the 70s, we decided to highlight it by removing all the lamps from the ceiling and contrasting it with a wood floor finish. The walls were worked with a gray palette using different shades of wallpaper that give each area a special character. The wood finishes in the room were lacquered in dark tones to incorporate them into the gray palette. The lighting using warm dimmable lights gives flexibility to each of the areas, according to the criteria of the environment that the manager would like to handle according to each event. By means of injection and air extraction elements, were kept in optimal conditions for smoking cigars and related in a closed commercial premises
