Facelift and Renovation of the youth hostel Würzburg | Florian Duelli

The Würzburg Youth Hostel offers school classes, young guests, families and conference guests a unique opportunity to stay in a city with the status of World Heritage Site. The highly frequented guest areas such as reception, lobby and lounges were getting old and were in a need of renovation. The center building is listed as a historical monument.

In the course of the reconstruction measure, the guests' main, spatial contact points were to be given a conceptual and memorable fresh design. The look was designed under the guardrail of a brand strategy. Extensive space-creating and scenic expansions, new surfaces and furniture, as well as staging of special areas with light now characterize the new face of the youth hostel. In addition, 20 guest rooms were equipped with their own shower plus WC, the kitchen was moved from the ground floor to the 1st floor, new seminar areas were created with flexible separations and the entire fire protection for the building was renewed. A new guidance system with a specially developed mascot now guides the guest through the refurbished house.
