BUFFALO SKYWAY CORRIDOR COMPETITION 2019 | Danilo Di Lorenzo Di Michele

The basic idea is to transform the corridor skyway into a boulevard equipped with activities that vary in the seasons, with the creation of the first Sky Beach in the world linked to the first Sky greenhouse  immersed in a linear park. The road axis will be the backbone for a series of linear clusters equipped with gardens located both under the pylons and under the embankment, creating continuity between the park in the west and the city on the east side of the corridor.

The activities that will be allocated in the park and in the sky beach will be receptive activities related to local and international tourism with the aim of revitalizing and creating a new pole of attraction for Buffalo.

The Outer Harbor North will become an equipped urban park where the spontaneous vegetation will remain dominant but there will be two connection structures from North to South that will allow a greater usability and an environmental requalification both of the park and of the shore of the lake that will become a sort of walkway equipped for walking, outdoor sports or having lunch-dinner.

The greenhouse structures will house the restaurants, the bars, and the bioclimatic greenhouses of the tree species planted in the park. The structures hanging on the pylons of the Corridor will host a large elevated indoor botanical garden from which you can access thanks to 4 large panoramic elevators that will connect the sky beach to the garden and the upper floor of the corridor to the ground level of the park.
