This three building family retreat was inspired by its owners vision of a family home that merges their love of rural farm culture with their love of the beach and the Pacific Northwest. The three buildings: the multi-purpose barn/stable; the guest house; and, fronting the beach, the main house, surround a large meadow at the center of the property. The main house, a long low structure flooded with light and views, is the connecting element between the intimate interior rural meadow and the wide open expanse of beach and Puget Sounds beyond. Each of the buildings is designed with many spaces that open directly to the outdoors, making explicit the relationship between inside and out and further connecting the buildings and the property as a whole.
