This feasibility study sought to set out an urban revitalization strategy for this industrial site along the canal. It defined urban and social issues, mobility and sustainable infrastructure, social and political communication and the funding of socio-economic activities.

The area was studied on different urban scales. On a regional scale, its situation on the canal but also its place in the network of green zones in the Belgian capital were analysed. On a smaller scale, some major neighbouring public spaces were included in the general reflection.

The study provided for the construction of an open and accessible building at this strategic location in order to break down the existing mental and physical barriers. In response to the construction of social housing, facilities bringing added value to the area were planned, such as a sports centre and a building for a crèche. This programme stimulated interaction not only within the same building but also with the surrounding buildings and public spaces.
