MALEK HOUSE is located in the very center of the Mashhad city in Imam Khomeini Street and it belongs to the Qajar era (1900 AD). The owner of this house, Haj Hussein Malek, was one of the wealthiest and most merciful people in Mashhad. Nowadays, Imam Khomeini Street is one of the most important streets in terms of administrative centers in the city.

In the past, the building was much wider than today and nowadays part of its western remaining’s and its courtyard is known as the Malek house. This part of the building consists of two floors, with a large living room which has a Wooden engraved ceiling and a beautifully decorated fireplace.

The house also had the first private bath in Mashhad in its time Which was buried beneath the ground and discovered by recent excavations.

OUR PROJECT

in this project, we tried to Re-establish the economic and social vitality through Revitalization. The idea was to renovate the existing building for any use that matches the locality, and also reduce the negative impacts of destroying or non-appropriate use of the building.

Because of its Leading background as a house with a history of attention to health and wellbeing, we decided to make this house a new place for attainment and attention to the health of the body and soul.
HAYAT in Persian means both YARD and LIFE, so in this project, the yard has an important role in our designing process. Also, the concept of the logo and the backyard was from Iranian gardens.
