Armchair TUTTU “Lumberer” | Levantin design

When we were kids, I with my brothers liked to listen to the grandfather’s stories about life and asked for them at every opportunity while sitting down around him on the floor. He amused us with these stories, slowly leading his deliberate tales rich in details sitting in his chair. He was the same lover of old stories himself! Inspired by childhood memories, we had a dig at the reincarnation of an archaic object that became for us the intimate and silent witness of our growing up.

In our interpretation, the heroes if the past came to life like a chameleon assuming in the colors of the scene of the stories. Working through the details of the collection and decoration, we created four brutal archetypes, each of which personified the type of human activity: “Savant”– scientist, “Farmer” – farmer, “Lumberer” – woodcutter. We refused the classic images and took as a basis an open form, clear content, and we called the collection a fictional but pleasant word Tuttu.

Tuttu “Lumberer” (woodcutter) – is the personification of a brutal man who imitates the generations of fathers and grandfathers and cultivates his virility. However, he is intellectual and talks about eternity. When creating the image, we take coarse retro style: a thick canvas sheet in khaki color, contrast stitching, and the elements of thick belt leather. The image rises from the request for a return to masculinity, the interest of men in life in the bosom of nature; their desire for manual domestic work, the image is the antithesis of modern trends of male effeminacy.

The wraparound soft part of the chairs is delicately superimposed on the smooth metal frames and fastens with buttons. It has an external and internal fiber coating for care. The back of the three collection chairs resembles a knapsack with a pocket for useful things and has a lodgment for magazines under the seat. We create special side-tables for drinks, which also could be used as a stool for legs.

Standard complete set includes one framework of a chair, one textile pillow with filler, one frame of a coffee table with a wooden tabletop, the textile cushion with filler for legs. The color of the armchair frame is available at request (by RAL). A pillow from leather is also available.
