Inspired by the colours of the Kenyan landscape, the house designed on a 2 acre plot and developed in over 300sqm, is a mix of Moroccan Moorish and Lamu style architecture. The client's brief called for a house that provided privacy and security but that would also be open to pool and garden for the full enjoyment of its tropical surrounds, as well as making use of an ample entertainment terrace. The architecture and interiors were developed around the crafts, trades and materials locally available and almost every item in the house was custom made per design by local artisans. This project has been a wonderful exploration of local building techniques, of testing materials and it has brought together teams of skilled craftsmen, the designer and the clients on a long but amazing adventure and work of love.
