ORIZZONTI D’ACQUA | DEFERRARI+MODESTI
Galileo Chini Pontedera / Italy / 2018
The exhibition features Galileo Chini, one of the most important figures in International Modernism, and some artists who have shared with him the experiences of the period, from Symbolism to Liberty, from the Viennese Secession to the suggestions of Orientalism. The theme of the exhibition will be water, a recurrent subject in those artistic movements that, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, have been identified with Symbolism and Divisionism.
Fil rouge that accompanies visitors throughout the exhibition, the water is a constant note throughout the production of Chini and tells the tune of the artist with the now fluvial backgrounds, now marine, from the Arno to the river of Bangkok, from Venice to the bathing and thermal centers of Viareggio, Montecatini and Salsomaggiore.
