People dream to carry “nothing” with them and transform it into a mansion whenever needed. Tourist tent, yurt, and folding canoes are examples of such interest.

Brette Haus was born with a straightforward idea: to grant people the possibility to move with the regular house across the world. Nowadays, we can offer unique folding houses which cannot be compared to any others.

“Nomadic Living: Relocatable Residences” by Sibylle Kramer made us understand that there is a strong demand for nomadic housing, but there is no regular supply.

Problem

Almost every solution on the market of movable housing now - a unique piece of art. Architects and enthusiasts build tiny portable cabins for individual purposes.

We had a few thoughts about transformable design. Our goal was to escape container-like forms, maintaining mobility.

Glamping villages and holiday fairs demonstrate that nomadic spirit is still alive. Ability to pack rapidly and relocate houses formed a strong bond with tourism and entertainment businesses.

Technology

Nowadays, nomadic paradise could come true due to the development of new building materials.

Cross-Laminated Timber technology allows creating natural, sustainable details. Beyond conventional connecting methods, CLT elements could be hinged to make the space transformable. Thus things that were static for Ages would become very portable. The customer and the market of housing emerged the demand for shelter to be able to change its shape.

For example, one’s summer house could not only be portable but also fold to become a container-like size. Such benefit would allow the house to travel any roads with no limits because it would fit in international shipping container dimensions...

Product

An affordable and sustainable house is not a dream anymore. The range of spaces 20, 30, 50 sqm is quite small for now, but we already have 70 sqm house in the development. Customers could choose different colours for painting and design, visiting online order platform. The system will be straightforward and usable, as it rarely is in wooden housing. After the order, we will offer customers several IKEA furniture compilations so they can buy it and furnish the house.

Manufacturing

We suppose prefabrication is the future of housing. Brette Haus assembly line based on LEGO principles - all the parts ordered separately, and we unite it in the product which is ready for delivery. This approach allows us to make houses faster and cheaper. The most significant lead time, for now, is 60 days - nonsense in a wooden housing. We can multiply the production rate depend on how it goes, and the goal is to reduce this time to 30 days or even smaller. Depending on how it goes we will enlarge manufacture space to more significant, which will help to reduce lead time too.

First houses will be delivered and installed before winter 2019-2020 comes.
