Social and deep hug.
Shape and structure have been conceived to create a building that embraces people into an intimate and protecting space where the community can meet, help and support each other.
A building where tradition and modernity are conceived together in a modern design, strongly connected with traditional local building techniques becoming a symbol for all the community.
The easy structural configuration, through the use of sustainable, local materials, allows the project to be built in a short time without specialised workers.
The curved walls define three different buildings which create an interior open courtyard, a place for social exchange.
The main entrance is directly connected to the court and the two main buildings.
These buildings are conceived as large flexible spaces where people can celebrate different kinds of worship.
In case of humanitarian emergencies these rooms are easily convertible to host citizens. Inside the smaller building there is a toilet and a small kitchen with annexed storage.
Different configurations of the floor plan are possible thanks to movable panels and curtains. The closure of all the panels generates intimate spaces where citizens can pray and search for theirinterior spirituality.
At the same time opening all panels will create a large space connected to the court, capable of
hosting events.
The centre of the building is open to the sky. It’s a place where the terrain and the divine are
strongly connected.
The platforms have double functions. Firstly, to raise and protect the building during the rainy season and create a place for socialising outside.
As detached element, the roof facilitates natural ventilation and at the same time protects the
interior of the building from the rain.
The sloped roof conducts the rain water inside to be collected and distributed to the village.
The light enters the building creating a wonderful atmosphere, emphasised by colourful and
traditional fabrics that gives the building it's identity.
