Red Line North is an impressive work that began in June 2013 and was completed in just over 60 months. An example of great "made in Italy" engineering, realized by the collaboration between Qatar Rail and a consortium of companies led by the Italian Salini Impregilo, and the JV of the designers composed by COWI, Italferr and One Works.

One Works was involved to develop the architectural project, from the functional layout to the construction site, of 7 stations: Al Bidda, Corniche, West Bay, Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, Al Qassar, Katara, Legtaifiya. The stretch called Red Line North that crosses Doha from the historical center of Souq, Msheireb, up to Lusail, located further north, along with 13 kilometers of tunnels running under the promenade of the capital, the "corniche" and the economic financial center of Westbay.

The stations have been conceived as catalysts of urban life, focal points, which become vibrant underground plazas. In this perspective, the work focuses primarily on the stations' public areas, those places that will have a greater influence on the passengers' travel experience.

Aiming to meet the client goal of offering services that meet the highest international standard and following the guidelines defined by Qatar Rail Architecture Department, One Works has carried out the station architectural design, in a process of development, optimization and definition of the detail that, while maintaining many of the characteristics common to the design of complex intermodal buildings, focused on design of the public areas of the stations. Plazas designed to meet specific - and inescapable - functional requirements, but also designed to offer a pleasant travel experience, not only intended as a move from point A to point B, but as a moment of sociability and shared experience. Thus, in the hands of One Works, architecture becomes a tool to define and design the spatial character of the stations, both internally and externally, with the intent not only of satisfying the client but above all the future and numerous users of the modern metro line.
