The basic objective of the project for the new museum, as well as keep in line with the existing, is to constantly look for a close link between the new building and nature as follows:
• Through immersion in the Park: the plants and enhancing the existing vacuum cleaner. The importance of historical and environmental park is almost fully respected while the present species and even within some environments by entering the new museum.
• Through the propensity towards the island and the lake. The Masterplan provides for a walk, which follows the old path, now recognized by a row of trees, and that, through a pedestrian bridge, along the southwest side of the islet, until you reach a small area with a sauna, which incorporates the traces of the existing and in use in the past (the archaeological remains of the old sauna are included in the new intervention). In addition there is a strong intention to maintain design continuity with the existing building through a review of the architectural style of the area concerned, especially with regard to the configuration of the roof (Fig. 4). The new museum takes up the roof lines of Nordic and nineteenth century, and contributes to a modern reinterpretation of the formal pre-existing. The angule of the north slopes of the new building helps to capture maximum sunlight, even in winter (when the solar height is approximately 7°). The result is highly distinctive architecture and designed to fit in its context of origin.
