Police Station Mindelheim

Immediately adjacent to the landmarked existing building, located in a park on the Mindelheim Altstadtrand, the planning team of the State Construction Office Kempten on a 4,400 square meter plot of land created a cuboid with green roof, which represents a fresh contrast to the underlying old building. The surrounding buildings are dominated by the steep gable roofs of medieval houses that house gastronomy, living and working spaces. The visual axis between the old building and the city gate is consciously respected by the new building, which retains the view over the Memminger Straße. After about two years of construction, the new police station was procured in 2016. The construction cost was 3.8 million euros, an investment that not only paid off in terms of quality of work and safety factors. The new police station was selected by the Bavarian Chamber of Architects for Architectures 2017, which has long since become an attraction for all those interested in architecture.
