This project involves the design of a new three-storey house in Ivanhoe. The proposal takes inspiration from contemporary Brazilian architecture, whose dramatic cantilevering forms and openness take advantage of surrounding views and integrate with the landscape.

Proposed new living areas are located in more open/transparent spaces at ground level to draw nature in, while private areas are located in more solid cantilevering elements above. The staggered forms are contained within a regular expressed grid structure and a feature pond aims to help draw reflected light into the living areas.

The proposal aims to incorporate green walls and use rugged, earthy materials such as cor-ten metal cladding, to create a relatively low-maintenance building that blends with the natural surroundings for an urban oasis.
